10 Minute Shadow Work Prompts

Shadow work is the practise of addressing your shadow self. The parts of you that are somewhat darker, the bits you've repressed. It's getting to the roots of why something made you feel or act a certain way. A lot of time we believe shadow work is mainly negative emotions, but it actually encompasses positive ones too! Many witches hate shadow work, as it can bring out our pain and hurt, but it is necessary to practise shadow work so you don't become blocked and can evolve your practise. Shadow work delves into unconscious material that shapes your behaviour and by addressing why we reacted in a certain way, we can offer ourselves more love and understanding- there is always something deeper to an emotion. Below is a list of prompts to help you. You can do as many or as little as you want. The questions are designed to be a 5-10 minute task per question.

  • Which of your weaknesses could have potential?
  • What unhealthy attachments do I hold on to?
  • What fears do I have about ending these attachments?
  • What do I have to gain from ending these attachments?

  • How would I feel if I obtained the things I am envious of?

  • How long do I reflect on failures or mistakes?
