Day 2: Three of Swords


Upright: Heartbreak, emotional pain, sorrow, grief, hurt

Reversed: Negative self-talk, releasing pain, optimism, forgiveness

General

Upright: The three of swords represents unhappiness, heartbreak, betrayal and sadness. It's a card of loss, depression and tears and when it appears in a reading it generally indicates a period of difficulty or hardship, usually on an emotional level. You have suffered or will suffer a loss or betrayal of some kind and not one that can easily be brushed over. The most difficult situations in our lives often teaches more about who we are and what we are capable than the good times. Give yourself space and time to heal and learn all you can from the experience. Don't be afraid to reach out for help from those who you love.

Reversed: This represents overcoming unhappiness, heartache, sorrow and sadness. When reversed it can be a card of optimism, overcoming grief or depression and releasing pain. It generally indicates that you're recovering from a heartbreak and the worst of it is now behind you. You might be reaching out to friends or reconciling with one who is cause you harm. You've managed to reach a compromise or be a point where you're able to forgive and let go of past trauma. Alternatively it could also represent you were pressing grief, sorrow or traumatic memories. That you're refusing to let go of negative emotions and are holding onto your pain.


Love and Relationship

Upright: When it comes to love the three of swords is not a great Omen as it represents tears, heartache, heartbreak, sorrow and conflict. It doesn't necessarily mean the end of a relationship but it does strongly indicate that there is some difficult issues that need to be addressed in order for your relationship to continue. You need to sit down with your partner and have an open and honest conversation about how you feel and respectively listen to each other. Descending into arguments, nasty comments or recriminations will only make the situation worse. You could've become unhappy or disillusioned with the relationship or they could just be a lack of communication between the two of you which leads to serious misunderstandings. This card can also indicate breakup, divorce or separation and the legal matters associated with such. It can also represent in some cases cheating or infidelity as it's a card upheaval and betrayal. If you're single it could indicate loneliness or alienation. You might still be feeling the loss of your previous relationship and a struggle to come to terms with your grief. You need to deal with the grief in order to move on. It can also indicate being the person with whom someone who cheats on their partner. Ask yourself would someone who really loves and values you put you in this position?

Reversed: If you're in a relationship it can indicate that you're moving into a period of reconciliation and forgiveness within your relationship. You're ready to let go of pain and heartbreak that the relationship has caused you in the past and forgive and move forward. The lines of communication open and your relationship has a good chance of progressing as you release the pain that you've been carrying. In some cases it can indicate reconciliation after a break up. Alternatively It can indicate that you're holding onto grief sorrow or pain unwilling to let them go. You may have been betrayed or hurt in the past and you're continuing to focus on this and you feel you're unable to forgive. If this is the case you need to ask yourself is there any point in continuing the relationship. Your relationship will not be able to grow why you're still holding onto past indiscretions. This doesn't mean that you have to pretend that never happened just that you can't keep using it as an emotional stick to beat your partner with, even if they did cause pain and sorrow in your life. You need to figure out if you can draw a line in the past and move forward together, if you can't maybe it's time to let go. It can also indicate that you're coming out of a period of feeling lonely and isolated and I'm feeling much more optimistic about your future relationship prospects. Alternatively could also indicate an extreme level of holding onto something after a bit of break up, divorce or loss of a loved one. There is no doubt that what you've been through has devastated you. At the same time, holding onto sorrow, the pain is not going to make you feel better and you may need to consider seeking help from a professional healer to begin the healing process.


Money and Career

Upright: In terms of money and career this card represents stress, disillusionment or losses and so it's not a great omen. It can signify grief and loss inexperience due to a sudden loss of a job or a redundancy. It could also represent becoming disillusioned with your career prospects. It can indicate breakdowns of communication, arguments or strike action at work and is a card of division and conflict. It generally indicates that your career is causing a lot of grief in your life at the moment. If you are experiencing conflict in the workplace remember to try and be respectful, open and honest in conversations with all parties concerned to resolve issues. Listen to their concerns as well as voicing in your own. If you've lost your job try and make most of the free time by doing things you normally wouldn't have time for. It's important to stay positive and realise that career is just one aspect of your life, don't let it overshadow all of the other areas. In a financial sense this card can indicate loss and upheaval. You may have suffered a financial loss, or an emotional loss which has financial consequences such as a bad divorce or separation. Things may have not worked out the way you hoped but now is not the time to stick your head in the sand. You need to come up with a step-by-step plan for managing your finances. Take it one task at a time and you will come through the other side.


Reversed: This can represent a stressful work or career situation starting to resolve itself and optimism coming in. You might be feeling much more upbeat be in your work environment and it may be a much more positive and happy environment. Perhaps the person causing the stress has left the company. There is an atmosphere of reconciliation, compromise and forgiveness. Alternatively it can signify an already difficult work situation getting worse. Lots of previous upheaval and the bad feeling that it has caused is made worse by people being unwilling to let go of negativity or choosing to hold grudges. In a financial sense it can indicate that you're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel after a period of financial difficulty. You could be coming into a compromise with lenders to pay back a debt or they may agree to forgive some of the debt. Alternatively it could also indicate a severe level of wallowing in financial loss. You may have lost a job you love, lost your home or financial status due to a recession. This suggests that you're still holding onto memories of what once was, your inability to accept where you are today and your current situation is harmful to you. Begin to take real steps to improve it rather than wallowing in self-pity.


Health

Upright: It can indicate ill-health, surgery and disorders. Your health or the health of someone you care about may not be as great as you would hope and you will be experiencing a level of sadness with regards to this. It can also be an indication of cardiac issues. This card can also be associated with anxiety, depression and trauma so it may be an indication that any physical health issues that may be manifesting as a result of deeper emotional or mental health issues. Taking care of your mental and emotional health at this time will be extremely important to your recovery, so be kind to yourself and try to keep a positive outlook.

Reversed: The Three of Swords reversed can signify a return to health after a period of ill-health, surgery or disorders. You should be feeling much more optimistic about your chances of recovering or healing. Alternatively, this card in reverse may be telling you that anxiety levels are playing a major part in any health problems you are experiencing. Do not allow your fear to overwhelm you, seek professional help if you need to.


Spirituality

Upright: The Three of Swords indicates that you are in need of spiritua; healing. Recent events have left you feeling hurt. You may feel there is little consolation to be had at this time. However, it is often out our greatest sorrows that give us the biggest opportunities to grow, learn and evolve as spiritual beings. Reach out to people you trust for support at this time and allow yourself the time you need to grieve the loss you have experienced. Be open to the messages your spirit guides are sending you, they are there to guide you through this storm.

Reversed: It can indicate a time of forgiveness and healing after a loss or heartbreak. Recent events left you feeling hurt but you have come through, beginning to heal from the pain. It can indicate that you are holding on to your sorrow, unwilling or unable to let go of the grief you feel. When we are consumed by grief and pain we often close ourselves off to the messages our spirit guides are sending us. Try meditation to help heal the sorrow and allow the guidance your spirit guides are sending you to enter your heart.
